Deirdre Gan, Huntington Beach, CA describes her jewelry creating designs in a southwest style. She uses metal clay, enamel, leather, semiprecious stones, silver, copper, bronze, coins, and found objects in her jewelry.

As a child, she enjoyed beading, jewelry making, and learning to make clothing at the age of 9.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Textiles from the University of Texas at Austin.  Her inspiration and passion for jewelry accelerated when she took a Metal Clay class back in 2005 and became PMC certified level 1,2,3, by the end of 2007.  She continues her jewelry education in all metal clay mediums, metalsmithing, and enameling.

Starting her business in 2009, she started selling her jewelry in local stores, then expanded her sales out of state, and taught jewelry classes. It has been very exciting to teach jewelry techniques and see the many different designs students come up with.

She has published articles in PMC connection newsletters. She has competed and was a finalist in the World Championship Belt buckle 2012 & 2014 and Fire Mountain jewelry 2014 contests as finalists. Her jewelry design photos have been published in Hadar Jacobson’s books and in the New Metal Clay Artist design challenge book 2012.
